The Waters of 1950s Hawaii (Pacific Dreams)

This is, hands down, the best Exotica sampler I can think of, even if it's missing essential people like Arthur Lyman and Robert Drasnin. Pay special attention to track 11 here, Martin Denny's "Jungle Madness". It's possibly my favorite exotica tune ever. There's no "madness" in the song at all. It's slow, spooky, dreamy and mysterious.

Latin Vibes From A White Guy

Don't get scared off cause it's a white guy. Cal Tjader was a fierce contributor towards latin jazz, and remained with this music long after it had gone out of fashion amongst jazz musicians. This album in particular is quite lively, and quite purist. This is not south-of-the-border cocktail jazz. This is the real thing.
