Joe Zawinul, founder of Weather Report and one of the primary architects of jazz fusion, passed away this week at the age of 75. Zawinul cut his teeth as a keyboardist for Miles Davis, composing and performing on two Miles Davis albums, In A Silent Way and the revolutionary Bitches Brew album.
